How you can dispose of hazardous waste in Monroe County June 3

The Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority will accept hazardous waste for disposal on Saturday, June 3.

Household hazardous waste should be properly disposed of in order to protect human health and the environment, explained Kevin W. Kundratic, deputy executive director of The Waste Authority. These products are ones "that can catch fire, react, explode under certain circumstances or that are corrosive or toxic."

These items should not go in the trash, recycling or landfill.

The disposal event is for Monroe County residents only. It is not open to businesses.

Pre-registration and payment are required. Go to thewasteauthority.com and click the "Household Hazardous Waste" tab to find the registration form.

The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 183 Commercial Blvd., Blakeslee.
